The differences that actually decide it
| Difference | What the published specifications say |
|---|---|
| Pressure | Sechrist: 30.0 psig / 3.0 ATA, published in both units. OxyHealth: up to 3.0 ATA / 29.4 psi. Equivalent claim. |
| Relief valve setting | Sechrist publishes 36.0 psig for the 3600H (35.0 psig for the 3300H). OxyHealth publishes no relief valve setting. This is the specification that says what happens when pressure control fails. |
| Emergency vent | Sechrist publishes 30 psig to 0 psig in under 120 seconds, with two vent modes, one of which operates autonomously without technician intervention. OxyHealth publishes no vent rate. |
| Internal and external dimensions | Sechrist publishes 90.00 in internal length and 106.00 in external length — a 16 in difference that tells you how much room the chamber really needs. On internal diameter its own documents disagree: 35.50 in in the older ‘H’ Chamber catalog, 36 in on sechristusa.com and in the March 2026 catalog (Spec Watch). OxyHealth publishes a 42 in internal diameter and nothing else. |
| Occupant weight rating | Sechrist publishes 700 lb standard. OxyHealth publishes none. Mean US adult male weight is 199.0 lb, so this matters mostly at the tails — but a rating's absence means nobody has told you where the tail is. |
| Gas handling | Sechrist publishes a purge rate of 80–400 lpm and an air-break breathing system. OxyHealth publishes a single-pull oxygen flow meter and an oxygen-out diaphragm. |
| Environment | Sechrist publishes an operating envelope of 50–100 °F and 30–90% relative humidity. OxyHealth publishes none. |
| Regulatory | Sechrist holds several clearances under product code CBF, including K140559 (2014). FDA's 2013 warning letter to OxyHealth alleged its soft chambers were marketed without clearance, and openFDA returns no 510(k) under the applicant name OxyHealth; the company's own regulatory page cites K041007, which FDA's database assigns to Hyperbaric For Life, LLC for the Millenium models. Verify any K-number against the applicant name yourself. |
Who should buy which
Sechrist Industries Model 3600H / 3600HR
For a clinical or commercial installation, the Sechrist is the documented option and the comparison is not close. Everything an engineer, an inspector or an insurer will ask for is published before you call.
OxyHealth Fortius 420
The Fortius 420 is a smaller, cheaper, more placeable 3.0 ATA-capable chamber, and for a private buyer who wants that pressure it is one of the only answers. Go in knowing which specifications you are not being given, and ask for every one of them in writing.
Commercial interest: We sell and install hyperbaric equipment, including Prestige Hyperbaric chambers, and we service chambers from most manufacturers named on this page. Read the verdict above with that in mind — and note that it does not always land on the equipment we sell.
Neither block above is a medical recommendation, and neither chamber is presented as treating any condition. See the evidence table for what published research does and does not establish, and the cost calculator for the five-year picture beyond purchase price.
